On June 20, 2019, the CSDS Director Vladimir Bartenev, Deputy Director Luiza Khlebnikova and the CSDS Expert Altunay Aliyeva attended a consultation on regional problems and humanitarian challenges in cross-border regions of Syria held by Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and International Committee of the Red Cross Regional Delegation in the Russian Federation, Belarus, and Moldova.
On April 18, 2019 the Center for Security and Development Studies and the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences organized a joint roundtable entitled “Helping Syrian Refugees: Humanitarian, Economic and Political Aspects” as a part of the Academic Conference “Lomonosov Readings-2019” International Relations Section program. More than 20 experts from leading universities (Lomonosov Moscow State University, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Russian State University for the Humanities) and research institutions (Institute of Oriental Studies, Institute of Europe, Institute of the US and Canadian Studies, Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences) took part in this event.
Februarey 19, the CSDS Director Vladimir Bartenev participated at the Valdai Discussion Club Middle East Conference titled "Middle East: New stage, old problems?". The event was organized by the Valdai Discussion Club in partnership with the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences.
