The CSDS Director Vladimir Bartenev participated in a Conference at the Center for the Middle East Studies, Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations

On April 10, the CSDS Director Vladimir Bartenev participated in the conference "Violence as a Factor in Regional Affairs: Violence in Political Life of the Middle East", organized by the Center for Middle East Studies, Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy And International Relations, Russian Academy of Science (IMEMO RAN).

The main presentations were made by  Vasily Kuznetsov, Head of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Regional Problems of the School of World Politics, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Leading Researcher at the Center for for Middle East Studies (IMEMO RAN); Tatiana Karasova, Leading Researcher at the Department for Israel studies, Institute of Oriental Studies RAS, and Denis Golubev, Associate Professor of the Department of American Studies, St. Petersburg State University.

Vladimir Bartenev contributed to the discussion with methodological questions and a series of summarizing remarks. In particular, he made some suggestions for future research on violence – both within and beyond the Middle East  - which will explore the complex linkages between domestic and external factors in more detail.
